• A combination of Dripless Packing gland material along with Teflon flax has lasted us four years and still going strong. Others opt for a PSS shaft seal to keep the Water out.

• Make your own quick change engine fuel filter with vacuum gauge
  Use two three-way valves, one on the input side one on the output. After the output value place a T and add the vacuum gauge to one branch of the T and run the straight line to the engine.



• Algae-X fuel conditioner + Bioside Diesel conditioner + Baja Filter and we haven't had a problem yet.



• Easy Oil Change pump; either vaccum, or external oil drain pump depending on existing engine and accessability.



• Quick Change for Water impellor on engine



• Make sure you have spare mixing elbows for your exhaust if needed



• Check to make sure you have enough of a rise from your exhaust to keep water from sloshing in during rough weather, especially with the new higher water line due to extra loading.



• Good clean engine soundproofing covered with perforated aluminum for mounting/cleaning, the foil coated stuff begins to peel after a while.



• Cheap and easy water flow alarm – add a typical house furnace overheat sensor  ($5 180 degrees), to the exhaust mixing elbow. It should be one that connects both pins together if the temperature gets hotter than 180 degrees (or so). Connect one side to the engine ground and the other to the ground leg of a Radio Shack 12 volt peizo alarm. The other side of the alarm should be hooked to the engines 12 volt circuit.



• Have an easy was to get fuel for filter changes etc. I put a valve after the algae-X that I can open it and pump semi-clean fuel to fill the filter with a outboard engine fuel bulb that I remove after use.



• Move engine start key to the lazerette and cover instrumentation for additional water protection and security
